Here’s the second half of what I’ve been reading – let’s go!

The Names by Florence Knapp is another favorite read of the year so far – this novel blew me away and I couldn’t stop reading! Cora is on her way to name her new son, but when the registrar asks for the name… in three alternative versions, Cora and her children’s lives are shaped by the name she chooses (Bear, Gordon or Julian), and the story follows the family through 35 years, with each version wildly different from the next. Wowowowow, a tough, tragic, amazing read. Recommending this to everyone I can!
The Love Haters by Katherine Center is another “must read immediately” author for me, and though the dust jackets always sound a bit – eh? – somehow the Center magic makes them shine brightly! We have a hot Coast Guard rescuer, a filmmaker, a meddling auntie, a Florida Keys setting, misdirects and missteps, and every time, it JUST WORKS. Katherine Center FTW with every book!🙂
How About Now by Kate Baer is her latest collection of poetry. If you read poetry and are a woman, these will no doubt resonate with you.
Parents Weekend by Alex Finlay is a campus thriller in which the parents of The Five – all of them from wildly different circumstances – descend on their private college campus, only to have The Five stand them up for a celebratory dinner, and then the wheels start to come off. We have a murder, misdirects, annoyed parents, and lots of secrets. Fun enough during the reading, but I don’t think this particularly story or plot with stick with me.
The Business Trip by Jessie Garcia is a twisty domestic thriller. Two women are the same flight – but from very different circumstances – but then the two of them vanish and the rumors and fears start to swirl around what happened to this unconnected women. I listened to this audiobook and appreciated the full cast of voices, and this kept me entertained throughout as the twists and red herrings pile up.
