Third Set of Springy Books!

Let’s do this!

The Ending Writes Itself by Evelyn Clarke (really a collab between VE Schwab and Cat Clarke) was a wild ride of a mystery suspense novel! Famous author Arthur Fletch has died and his last book is unfinished, so the publisher brings together a handful of people from different genres for a 72 hour writing competition to see who can finish it and net a $2M prize. Let’s just say things do not go according to plan. 😉This was fast, wacky, entertaining and unpredictable, and I was here for it. 🙂

Missing Sister by Joshilyn Jackson had an intriguing premise – an alleyway murder, an obvious female suspect near by, and the (female) police officer that lets her go, setting off a series of events. This one sounded good, but just didn’t land for me. Wrong book, wrong time?

Last One Out by Jane Harper was an auto read, since she’s such an immersive suspense writer. Harper’s books are always set in Australia and are super atmospheric, and this was no exception. We have a dying town by a mine, a 5-year-old disappearance, and the family that was left behind. This is a slooooow moving, immersive story about trying to solve the murder, fight to save the small town, a disintegrating relationship – this has a lot. I liked it, but it took me FOREVER to read – it just didn’t hold together as well for me as her other novels.
