Since we aren’t haven’t been able to do in-person programming at my library since, well, March, we’ve been churning out oodles and oodles of videos – storytimes, craft projects, guest lecturers, you name it! In December, we decided to do a series on foods from around the world, and I volunteered to share my recipe for a trifle, which looks super difficult… but so is not (and doesn’t require any cooking!). Need a super fast dessert? This is a winner!
Marissa’s Easy Peasy Trifle
1 angel food cake (cut into cubes)
1 package of vanilla pudding mix (the large box), prepared
1 tub of Cool Whip
Assorted fruit (I used strawberries and blueberries, cut and macerated with a bit of sugar)
Simply start with a layer of angel food cake cubes in a glass bowl or trifle dish (so you can see the layers!), then spoon over about half of your fruit (so the juices soak into the cake). Top with about half your pudding, then half your whipped cream, then repeat. Top with a layer of whipped cream and some fruit on top. So easy, sooooo delicious!
The above ingredients are the super-fast, super-cheap version, but you could always make this high-end by making your own Chantilly cream, your own custard, your own cake… whatever you like!
